Just to start off my blog I want to point out something I have just noticed in the reading. At the beginning of every chapter the font is slightly bolded and is a conversation between the battle school's teachers/authorities/ whoever they are. Did anybody else notice that?
Great point. The conversation between Colonel Graf (and Anderson, usually) is our first glimpse into the omniscience of the "narrators". They seem to know everything -- at least, at first.
ReplyDeleteThey remind me of the teachers at the high school I went to. They feel like they are in charge and know everything that is going on in the school when really the students are doing many a things behind their backs.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough, before I was a teacher, I sincerely believed that my teachers had no idea the things I got away with -- or the things the mass population of the schools I attended got away with. Now that I'm a teacher, I recognize that the teachers knew everything that was going on under their noses; they just picked their battles.
ReplyDeletehi, Shaniqua. You don't know me, but I found your blog because we both love the 10th Kingdom, so I decided to tag you. :-) You can check out my 2/14 blog to see what I'm talking about, if you're interested.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the same thing with parents. I'm figuring out now that I've moved out that my parents knew a lot more than I thought they did. They laugh about things I thought I was being sneaky about now, but at the time they knew what was going on...
ReplyDeleteTo link the parent/teacher subject together, they've both been in the same spot we are at one point in their life. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to pull off the same schemes.
